May 15th

//Zira, Mama and Me

This is my mom, the middle one.
Every year, there will be wishes of "Happy Mother's Day" in mid-May. We're lucky that Mama's birthday falls on May 15th, a couple of days after Mother's day. Mama is even happier that her first grandson's birthday is only a day before her birthday- when my SIL's EDD (expected date of delivery) was on 24th of May, she was praying it fell onto her birth date instead XD But Muhammad was born 1 day earlier. Nevertheless, it's like a double celebration.

Everywhere children wish their mothers Happy Mother's Day; some celebrate with special occasions, dinners or meals, some write on lengthy but beautiful speeches on social media, some forwarded gifs and wishes online and on whatsapp; anything to get the message across- Happy Mother's Day, thank you Mum(s). To most, their Moms are the best Mothers; well, logically they are right?

Mine's too.
She was working when we were growing up, but took early retirement because Dad was transferred to East-Coast. That was when I was 16. 2 years later, I went and studied abroad and one advice that stuck on to me even until now is- "whatever you do, let us (parents) know first before we find it out through other people (we have got spies all over)"- that was said to me when I was 15, while I was still in KL and I brought it with me even when I was in Perth :P
So she was the first one to listen to my ups and downs, my tales and wails, my adventures and sorrows when I was in Australia. She was a patient ear to my every phone call and I was glad I could tell her everything.

Only later on when I came home did I learn that she wasn't too keen of me pursuing my dream back then in studying medicine (abroad) but never once did she object it in front of my face, and I am glad she did not... In return, my sister and I decided to do our housemanship away from home, so she and Dad wouldn't see it firsthand how 'gruesome' the journey could be (okay, that was an exaggeration but not that far off.. the two years flew quite fast than expected).
Even so, she was there when I decided for a semi-impromptu day-trip back to KL to watch a movie (and accompanied me for breakfast and lunch in MidValley XD ; entry here) and joined ChocoMon's trip to USJ and Legoland (entry here) where she was sorta 'tricked' into getting onto the Revenge of the Mummy (sorry, Mama, really, I am!)

Then I came home to continue working as a medical officer in Putrajaya, commuting daily from KL; and she's still there, supporting me in every step- every littlest story that I have, to every non-spoken gestures I made, she's still here. Even when I decided to take that impromptu trip abroad before getting into Masters programme, she came with me...

No words can convey how thankful I am, how thankful we are to you, Mama.
Happy Birthday and Happy Mother's Day, for being awesome superwoman you are. May you always be blessed and be healthy always, Ameen.

Endless Game

The Not-so-Crazy Escapism 2013 #4: Home
(and good food plus good COFFEE)

Another 4 months and it will be exactly 2 years I'm in Batu Pahat, as a houseman. We've entered the final posting: Emergency and Trauma Department; a posting that I initially had palpitation (and perhaps still do from time to time) when I first received my logbook.

Time flies- when you enjoy what you are doing, has colleagues and friends who walk alongside you and encouraging and friendly environment to be in.

That said, of course there are ups and downs.

One of the ways I deal with pressure/stress is- no surprise- to go home.

Just to be in the familiar comfort of your surrounding and family, even for a day is good enough. And surprisingly, a walk-through crowded shopping mall somehow makes you feel like you have no other worries in your life.

Although stress isn't really the reason to come home this week- more of the intention of having lunch with old friend, some-kind of a half-cooked plan on my behalf.
Deactivating my fb was perhaps one of the best thing I've done in my opinion for now but the downside is I kind of lost touch of what's happening with some friends. So the other option is to meet up =)

And I'm just glad that some things and some people just never change. Maybe we have, in many ways, but the old 'us' are still there. I long to meet the rest though... Although to be honest, I perhaps have not much update from my side... Haha...

Crazy Escapism perhaps will end up becoming "Short Trip Home" *sweats*

28 on 28th

It was rather... normal.
Perhaps the quietest birthday that I have ever gone through =P
Got texts from my family and towards the evening Alia whatsapp'ed me
And... slept way too early for my liking.

Early birthday present from my sister

New addition to the collections. Treat myself these and  scrap off one of the wishlists

Went back home a week after Eid
Post-call, slept in the car only after a couple of hours chatting with my sister who just came back from Sandakan while she was driving (yeah, I'm spoilt like that)
Reached home and "this is Raya" echoed in my mind- with all of the family members around

The men in my life

I wanted to put "the girls in the family" but of course there's one boy there... ^^;

Was too ambitious to meet up too many people that I missed some of them
But caught up with my cousins and aunts and uncles
And a few friends & a few of my lecturers

F4 + 1 @ Sakae Sushi

Went to Faizah's sister's wedding; the other sister Shaza's missing :(

With cousin Ummi

The aunts & cousins. The uncles are outside and the other male cousins wondered why weren't they in the picture =P

Last stop on Sunday, after visited Dr Shu & Dr Rafizi, to Prof's house for dinner

A Picture A Week: Week 37 (and quick update)

// siblings meeting @ one of the kopitiams near our house; Eid 2010

Since the five of us are scattered around, in and outside Malaysia, we thought we might just continue with this when we can get together, at least once a year...

Quick update:
- Internet hasn't been most cooperative nowadays, reported to TM, most probably cable problem; they're going to send someone to have a look sometime next week
- Orthopaedics Week 2: We drew lot, I'll have my assessment next week T_T
- "Jalan raya" will continue this week... Unfortunately the camera is 3 hours away so to those who wish for picture taking session, someone else have to be the photographers ^^;
- Read the translation lyrics for Dear Snow, love it! ♥
- Am loving NatsuNiji's OST too ♥

New House

Got to Kuala Terengganu late evening...
I slept most of the way to KT, in the bus... which was.... not me at all.
There was a strange, excited feeling, one close to "tadaima" as we passed by Kerteh
that shows how much I looked at Kerteh as home despite only spent 2 years fully there,
and despite the fact that we have no house there...
Even school doesn't look the same from afar

Anyway,
Reached the new house...
I was speechless... Lotsa work to be done till this looks like a house
Okay, I'm exaggerating
Still, it needs a lot of re-arranging
But I like it. I like the new house *Yay!*

Contact her; might just as well meet up while she's here
InsyaAllah tonight? ^^
Thank you for wanting to meet up :)
