Breathless

Different people relieve their stress differently. I try to try different things to ease some burden off my mind (and shoulder), be it emotionally, spiritually & physically. To top it off, I'm definitely Type A personality which mean I'm no risk taker, I play by the book, I follow rules, guarded and 'skema' most of the time.
So most of the time on my day off, it means doing laundry, house chores, top up food, sleep & rest, watching a little videos.... and study. Once in a while if I have friends to hang around with, we'll spend the day doing stuff like shopping, eating or bowling. What I decide to do on my day-off will depend on what I'll have the days coming and how tired I am and I was.

So it is very rare that I'd do something crazy like what I did today.

I call it 'Crazy Escapism 2013 #1'

I don't watch many movies in theatres, unless I deem it's worth it. Lately it's more of 'I don't have that much time to spend time in movie theatre- I'd rather do something else. Like sleeping.' But there's one particular movie that I wanted to watch- Ruroni Kenshin, live action. Admittedly I've watched it on my laptop -a few times- but, it's a wish I had since it came out last year- to watch it in cinema, even if I'm alone ^^;
For me, the casts, the cinematography, the swordsmanship, the OST- EVERYTHING about this movie is perfect and hence VERY VERY worthwhile to watch it in the cinema. And no, I'm not biased because I've watched the anime & read the manga since I was young, no..... XP Plus, Take-pon was in the movie so hey! 8D

Unfortunately for me there are only a few places showing it, and even more unfortunate, by today -which is my off-day- only two places in Malaysia are still showing it- MidValley & Penang.

And it's called Crazy Escapism because I drove to KL (which is 300km away from where I'm working) at 7 a.m., reached MidValley around 10 a.m.

Bought the ticket for 11 a.m. show, for me and Mom by the way. Yes, Mom actually accompanied me watching this movie xD

Had quick breakfast at Pancake House

Then went to watch the movie and soon after that, dropped by at IT exhibition (which answered my question the morning when I arrived as to why were there so many people waiting outside the exhibition hall) and had lunch and quick-update with Mom at Chilli's before heading back to Batu Pahat at 4 p.m. Reached home at around 7 p.m.

So yeah.... my conclusion is, day trip to KL IS possible! However, next time I'm doing this kind of Crazy Escapism, I'm not driving alone... Working 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. the day before THEN driving 600km alone is... VERY tiring. I'm just ready to crash any moment now... Plus, I'm on-call tomorrow... so yeah...

On the other note, one of our Geng Makan is going very soon... =(
While we got closer as friends and colleagues, we were very much aware that in the end, most of us are leaving- to go back home, further studies & doing masters or just being transferred out... Still, we do hope that the friendship doesn't end here...

Half of us at the farewell lunch, sponsored by the one leaving. Who knows, next time we meet, it will be outside Batu Pahat already xD

Bubbles

How long was it since we last play 'bubbles'?
Stopped by Dataran Penggaram to enjoy the colourful lights which led to impromptu buy
For a moment, we played like there's no need to go for work tomorrow
Brought out the child-side in us

I wished I had my DSLR with me
The thousand bubbles + the lights from the trees + happy & carefree expression = priceless!

Still...

抱えた物の多さに潰れそうなその時には 思い出して
ずっと繋いできた その手は嘘じゃないから
When you feel like you're being crushed by all the burden you carry, just remember
The hand you've been holding onto all this time is not a lie
-Still... (Coupling song of single Happiness (2007) by Arashi)

These are just some reminders, more for myself, in time of disappointment or sadness... because there's no sadness in Islam =)

When things do not go exactly the way we wanted,
when we do not achieve what we have tried so hard to achieve
or when we feel so let down by others,
then always know that for as long as we have faith and trust in the Almighty

He definitely has something better in store for us,
has saved us from a calamity or disaster that would have been in our path or
has elevated our status through surrendering to His decree.

We are not considered believers until we are pleased with the Decisions of the Almighty.
Try your best and leave the rest to Him.

On the other note, can I have this (picture) as a present? xD The Penna Bear, not the bike thank you.
Saw it in Arashi ni Shiyagare where Mogi Kenichiro was the guest- am intrigued and I thought the concept behind it is awesome! And guess who guessed it correctly the first time in such a short time? xD

"A souvenir that stimulates your brain, with a huge secret behind it; that lies on the shape of its back. There's also a profound life message in the answer" -Mogi Kenichiro

Often time...

Salam,

Just got off-tagged today, so I thought I'd share some thought that came across my mind a few days ago.

Often times, for us who work in this field, when patients come with late presentation and poor prognosis, worse if they defaulted treatment or relatives placed high 'demands' while we are in rushed or have more urging matter to attend to, we'll get irritated and angry easily.

Often times, when this happen we will start to place the blame on something or someone else.

Especially if it happens in the middle of the night when we wish we can just sit for a few minutes and fill our empty stomach and close our eyes for a little after working and rushing the whole day.

I am still new in this field; still making that baby-steps yet only God knows how often these thoughts came into my mind.

Oh, how much guilt now do I have?

Because to be honest, in the end, Who send these patients into our paths?
So in the end, if you become angry despite being tired, hungry and sleepy, to whom actually are you directing your anger at?

Just some points to ponder.
Wallahualam.

La Tahzan

“...whosoever follows My guidance, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve...” (2:38)

This is the ayah that a sister of mine whom I have high respect for based on when she said to me “there is no sadness in Islam, Wani, la tahzan”. It was years and years back. I can’t remember exactly what occasion it was but that particular sentence stuck in my head since then.

Especially when feeling troubled.

So there are times when we get upset over things, big or small. Perhaps it helps if we try to remember this ayah...

La Tahzan :)

Paintball

29th December 2012, Kulaijaya

Team Ortho HSNI, Batu Pahat organized paintball match; joined by MOs, HOs & SNs from different department. Kudos to the organizer!

I didn't go to play - blame it on being scardy-cat & low pain tolerance  but offered my service as the photographer (despite the fact that I suck at taking photos but pretend to know how to ^^; ). Didn't bring the camera but used one of the MOs' DSLR. It was a fun event, definitely a must in the future!

Just to share some pictures~

The participants, early morning before departing
Them in action!

THEN, the MOs (plus one HO & SN),
VS.

The HOs

After-battle faces

Later that night, some of us went for bowling. Then back to work (or off day for some) the next day.

It's 2nd of January, 2013.
We said goodbye to 2012 and welcome 2013.
So have you decided on this year's resolutions yet? ;)

December 16, 2012

Your Eyes

It's nearly the end of 2012.
For some of us, it's been more than a year working as houseman. I'd have to say, the longer it is, the more comfortable and familiar you are with your job. But that doesn't mean it doesn't go without any trials and tribulations.

In the few months that have lapsed since my last entry, believe it or not, we've been to Sabah twice. First, to Kota Kinabalu, sort of an impromptu decision when Zeti was checking out the flight ticket. There were quite a number of Frontiers in KK so meeting them up was a pleasure- memories to hold on to. KK trip wasn't really for sight-seeing, rather, it was more of a mini reunion. Nevertheless, we went up to Kundasang -a beautiful place indeed- and stayed at a marvelous place called Little Hut. You can google it up ;)

//Missing Hanum, Nisa & Amal

//At Desa Cattle Farm. The chocolate milk is the best! And loving the scenery at the back =D

The second trip was to Sandakan- Frontiers' first attempt at batch reunion. Hats off to K.I who was basically the backbone of the gathering. Reunion isn't complete without something that we could benefit from, so...

//Sunathon! Yup, Prof let us 'cut' this time around. Satisfied indeed.
//The venue was 2 hours on road followed by 2 hours OFF-road.
We we brought there by this awesome team of 4-WDs called MudMadness. They seriously taught us the meaning of teamwork. Hopefully we can work with them again in the future!

//Back during student time, post-sunathon = waterfall trip xD This time around, we stepped up for turtle-watch!

//The ever-so-stylish lecturers! ;)

//Dropped by the English tea-house in KK- the scenery is worthwhile. The food was yummy. The coffee was just... awesome! Heh... says the coffee-addict ;)

//Us and Profs

And in between those two trips, Geng Makan2 (which consists of colleagues of mine in Hosp. Batu Pahat who just happen to love to eat) held more -lo' and behold!- MAKAN MAKAN! =P
Who says doctors don't have life?
We EAT...
//Sate at... ?jengkuan? I have no idea how you spelt it...

And EAT...
//Durian & Rambutan Fest at yours truly + dominos

And we bowl too...

See? We DO have life xD

There was an announcement of Post-Grad Prep Course a few months ago. I went to the first edition last year before embarking into working life. It was useful. I am perhaps 80% sure of what I want to do next, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to just listen to other options too.
It was a superb event, kudos to IMAM, MOSIT (MO & Specialist in Training) chapter for organizing it! I'd love to see more people attending this next time ;)

For more information, you can visit: IMAM-MOSIT

//This year, there's booklet too!

//It was held in CUCMS this year.
Snapped this picture, this place haven't really changed in a sense.
There was a sense of heavy happiness when I looked at the meeting rooms- I could see us 'strolling out' from the room on the swivel chairs, taking break from long hours of revision during the final days before Final Pro-Exam. Good ol' memories bring back smile =)

So what's next? In 15 more days, we'll embark into another chapter of life... called 2013.

Have you achieved your goals this year?
What do you want to achieve next year then?
Give it a thought, okay?
Wallahualam bissawab...

August 29, 2012

28 on 28th

It was rather... normal.
Perhaps the quietest birthday that I have ever gone through =P
Got texts from my family and towards the evening Alia whatsapp'ed me
And... slept way too early for my liking.

Early birthday present from my sister

New addition to the collections. Treat myself these and  scrap off one of the wishlists

Went back home a week after Eid
Post-call, slept in the car only after a couple of hours chatting with my sister who just came back from Sandakan while she was driving (yeah, I'm spoilt like that)
Reached home and "this is Raya" echoed in my mind- with all of the family members around

The men in my life

I wanted to put "the girls in the family" but of course there's one boy there... ^^;

Was too ambitious to meet up too many people that I missed some of them
But caught up with my cousins and aunts and uncles
And a few friends & a few of my lecturers

F4 + 1 @ Sakae Sushi

Went to Faizah's sister's wedding; the other sister Shaza's missing :(

With cousin Ummi

The aunts & cousins. The uncles are outside and the other male cousins wondered why weren't they in the picture =P

Last stop on Sunday, after visited Dr Shu & Dr Rafizi, to Prof's house for dinner

Eid Mubarak!

Tomorrow is the last day of Ramadhan. This is certainly not the first time I celebrate Eid far from home. And certainly not the first time having something on during the first day of Eid; only the last time I had to sit for exam at 9 a.m. in Perth.
This time around I’ll be on post-call during the first day of Eid, in Batu Pahat. Of course I'll be home for Raya- week after that. The question that comes next is “why?”

For me, Eid is Eid. Yes, it’s the time to gather with all your relatives and exchange greetings and celebrate the festive day. More importantly for me, it is the gathering of family members & the togetherness, especially when all year round, some are missing.

So, since my sister who’s working in East Malaysia will only be coming back a week after Eid, it’s more worth to go home around that time too. The youngest studying in Egypt is already at home so it's just left the two of us now.

To everyone, wishing you Eid Mubarak! May we have used this month of Ramadhan as best as we could and may we see the coming years to come of Ramadhan too =)

The last 10 days of Ramadhan...

[But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace!
Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]
enter, then, together with My [other true] servants
yea, enter thou My paradise!"

Al-Fajr (The Dawn) 89:27-30
